Some collaborations just stick, and Jamey of @jagcagdesign is one of those people who has been part of the Decor Steals family for years. In fact, we've been working with Jamey since before I joined the Decor Steals team three years ago! She first found us as a customer and, over time, has become one of our go-to partners... and truly one of the kindest, most easygoing people to work with.
What we love most about Jamey's style is that her home feels collected rather than decorated. Her rustic, vintage-inspired spaces are filled with pieces that have character, history, and meaning, creating the kind of warm, welcoming home that feels completely personal to the people who live there. And her style doesn't stop at the front door... we're equally obsessed with her charming garden space and, of course, her chickens!
Beyond her beautiful home, Jamey has a passion for health and well-being and works with the Blue Zone Project, making intentional living a part of both her work and everyday life.
We asked Jamey to share more about her decorating style, how she discovered Decor Steals, where she finds inspiration, and the story behind the spaces she creates. Keep reading to get to know Jamey and steal a little of her style for your own home.
What’s your story? How did you become a home decor influencer?
My story really started with having to begin again. Our home burned in a wildfire, and my family and I suddenly found ourselves starting over from essentially nothing. We were fortunate to find another home to purchase, but then came the process of turning an unfamiliar house into a place that truly felt like ours.
I’ve always loved decorating, vintage pieces, gardening and creating, and I began sharing the process of slowly making our new home feel warm, collected and personal. Somewhere along the way, people started following along, and what began simply as sharing something I loved grew into Jag Cag Design—a name created from my two sons’ initials—and this wonderful community I never could have anticipated.
That experience also deepened something I’ve always felt—that our surroundings matter. I truly believe creating a beautiful, welcoming environment can contribute to our sense of well-being. For me, decorating has never been about having a perfect home. It’s about creating a place that feels good to live in—a place that brings comfort, joy and a sense of belonging.
How did you first discover Decor Steals?
I actually discovered Decor Steals during that same period after the wildfire. We had an entire home to furnish and decorate again, and I was searching for affordable ways to make this new-to-us house feel like home.
I loved that Decor Steals pieces had character and that vintage, collected quality I was drawn to, without the price tag that often comes with it. It’s pretty special to think that I first found Decor Steals simply as a customer trying to create a home again, long before I ever imagined I’d be working with them.
Do you remember your first “steal”? What was it?
I do! It was the “I Love You More” blanket.
Looking back, it feels pretty fitting. I was trying to make our new house feel warm and like home again, and one of my very first Decor Steals purchases was literally something cozy that said “I Love You More.” I still love that!
How would you describe your home style in three words?
Collected, Old-World and Western.
My style is always evolving, but lately I’ve been especially drawn to European collected interiors—spaces that feel as though they’ve developed naturally over generations rather than being decorated all at once. I love old-world character, vintage finds, natural materials and warm Western touches.
More than anything, I want our home to tell our story. I think that’s why “collected” will probably always be the word that describes it best, even as my style continues to evolve.
How do you incorporate Decor Steals pieces into your home?
I love mixing Decor Steals pieces with vintage finds, family treasures, handmade pieces and things I already own. I never want something to look like “the new thing I just bought.” I want it to feel as though it belongs and maybe has even been there for years.
I also love restyling pieces from season to season or moving them somewhere completely unexpected. That’s one of the things I enjoy most about decorating—our home is always evolving, and nothing has to stay the same forever.
Any quick tricks for refreshing a space using affordable finds?
Shop your own house first! I move things around constantly. Something you’ve stopped noticing in one room can suddenly become your favorite piece when you put it somewhere unexpected.
I’m also learning to embrace a little more simplicity. I love a collected home, but I’ve realized that doesn’t mean every space needs to be filled. Sometimes taking something away and giving a favorite piece a little breathing room makes an even bigger impact than adding something new.
When I do bring in something new, I look for one or two pieces that add character, texture or interest. Mixing affordable finds with vintage pieces, family treasures and things you already own can completely change the feeling of a space. And ultimately, that’s what matters to me—not just how a room looks, but how it makes you feel when you’re in it.
What does being part of the Decor Steals community mean to you?
This relationship is especially meaningful to me because I was a Decor Steals customer before I was ever a partner. I found them at a time when we were starting over after losing our home and I was trying to make a new-to-us house feel like ours.
Now I get to share their pieces with my own community and see how differently other people style the same finds. I love that because creating a home isn’t about following a formula—it’s about finding things you love and making them your own.
I never would have imagined when I got that first “I Love You More” blanket that years later Decor Steals would be featuring my home and my story. It feels pretty full-circle.
