The Ultimate Valentine’s Surprise: DIY Wine Bottle Bouquet

The Ultimate Valentine’s Surprise: DIY Wine Bottle Bouquet

We’ve all been there: Valentine’s Day (or a bestie’s birthday) is right around the corner, and you want to give a gift that feels personal, thoughtful, and high-end without breaking the bank. I absolutely love receiving a fresh bouquet of flowers, there is something so refreshing when bringing nature indoors. But let’s be honest, sometimes a standard bouquet feels like it’s missing a little extra something.

What if you could give someone not only a stunning floral arrangement but a hidden treat as well? Imagine their delight when they realize those beautiful blooms are actually crowning a bottle of their favorite sangria or wine!

In today’s post, I’m sharing a genius DIY hack for a Wine Bottle Bouquet. It’s the perfect way to level up your gift-giving game. We’ll cover:

  • The essential (and affordable!) supplies you’ll need.
  • A simple 4-step guide to assembling your bouquet.
  • Tips for styling your gift in a way that doubles as home decor.

Supplies You’ll Need

To create this stunning, affordable home decor gift, gather these items:

  • A sturdy basket (Check out the Decor Steals collection for those perfect vintage-inspired wire or wicker options!)
  • A bottle of choice (Wine, sangria, sparkling cider, or even a fancy olive oil)
  • A block of floral foam
  • Faux flowers (or real stems if you prefer)
  • Kraft paper or decorative gift wrap
  • Ribbon or twine
  • Wine glasses (if gifting wine)
  • Sweet treats (Valentine’s candy, chocolates, or small trinkets)

Step-by-Step Directions

1. Create Your Foam Base

Take your bottle of choice and flip it upside down. Press the neck of the bottle firmly into the center of your floral foam block to create a custom-sized hole. Trim away any excess foam from the sides so it doesn’t look too bulky. My block was about 3.5 x 3.5 inches after trimming off the excess.

2. Arrange Your Blooms

Flip the bottle upright keeping the floral foam block on the cap/cork. Now for the fun part: arranging! Poke your faux flowers into the foam until it’s full and lush. Pro Tip: If you are using real flowers, make sure to soak the floral foam in water before adding the stems to keep them hydrated!

3. Wrap It Up

To give it that authentic florist look, wrap the bottle (and the base of the foam) in kraft paper. This hides your surprise! Secure it with a pretty ribbon or some farmhouse-style twine.

4. Style Your Gift Basket

Place your new "bouquet" into a cute basket (I made two gift baskets and used this basket for one and this scalloped basket for the other). Surround the bottle with wine glasses, heart-shaped candies, and other small gifts. I added in a bit of tissue paper as well. This elevates the presentation and makes the entire gift feel like a curated experience.

A Gift That Keeps On Giving

One of my favorite things about this DIY is that once the wine is enjoyed and the flowers are moved to a vase, the recipient is left with a gorgeous, high-quality basket to use as affordable home decor. Whether they use it to organize mail in the entryway or hold hand towels in the guest bath, it’s a versatile piece that they can continue to use.
