Your Simple Step By Step DIY Pumpkin Fairy Garden

Your Simple Step By Step DIY Pumpkin Fairy Garden

There’s something magical about pumpkins - they’re not just for decorating, carving or making pies. With a little creativity, you can transform one into a whimsical fairy garden that feels straight out of a storybook. This simple (and unique) DIY is a perfect way to bring charm and a special element to your fall décor, whether you set it on a porch, entryway, or dining table.

What You’ll Need

  • Pumpkin (check out this set)
  • A twig wreath
  • Riser
  • Cheesecloth or other filler
  • Moss
  • A small bowl or bucket to nest inside
  • Potting soil or filler
  • Mini décor pieces (like tiny houses, fairies or mushrooms)
  • Rocks

Step-by-Step

1. Start with a Base: The bowl I had was smaller than the pumpkin, so I placed a twig wreath inside to fill space. I then added a riser that my bowl could sit on and filled in the area with some green fabric. You could also fill in the open space with moss at the bottom to create a natural foundation.

2. Add a Bowl or Bucket: Next, I nestled a small round bowl inside the pumpkin to hold soil and give structure to my fairy garden.

3. Fill with Soil: Then, I added dirt to the bowl, creating the landscape for my fairy garden.

4. Place Your Focal Point: I added the focal point (a fairy cottage) so I could design the rest of my garden around it.

5. Layer in Moss and Small Rocks: Then, I tucked moss around the base to soften the look and mimic natural greenery as well as added small pebbles and rocks leading to the cottage door.

6. Add the Magic: Lastly, I finished with miniature accents - fairies, mushrooms, lanterns, etc., to bring the scene to life.
