Dapper Breakfast Delights: Jenn’s Distinguished Pigs in a Blanket

Dapper Breakfast Delights: Jenn’s Distinguished Pigs in a Blanket

We’ve all been there, you’re hosting a weekend brunch or trying to make a school morning feel a little more special, but your go-to breakfast routine feels a bit... uninspired. The struggle to find a dish that is both easy to whip up and impressive enough to serve to guests is real. You want something that tastes like a gourmet bakery find but doesn't require hours in the kitchen or a massive grocery bill.

Well… Jenn from @downshilohroad has some inspiration for you. After snagging her latest "steal" (the Distinguished Pig Bronze Bowl from the fan-favorite Dapper Critters Collection), she knew she needed a recipe that matched the pig’s sophisticated yet whimsical vibe.

The result? A sweet-and-savory twist on a classic that will have your family "squealing" for seconds!

Dipping pigs in the blanket

What’s in This Article:

  • Supplies You’ll Need: The kitchen basics for success.
  • The Ingredient List: Everything required for that perfect cinnamon-sugar crust.
  • Step-by-Step Instructions: How to roll, dip, and bake your way to breakfast bliss.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg breakfast sausage
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1-1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 pkg crescent rolls
  • maple syrup (for dipping)

Step-by-Step Directions

1. Sizzle the Sausage

Start by cooking your breakfast sausage links in a skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Set them aside on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.

2. Create the "Dapper" Batter

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, vanilla, sugar, and cinnamon. This mixture is the secret to that French-toast-style coating that elevates these from basic to "distinguished." Set this aside.

3. Prep the Pastry

Pop open your crescent roll cans and pull the triangles apart. Set them on a piece of parchment paper.

4. The Secret

Before adding the meat, put a small spoonful of your milk and cinnamon mixture onto the flat crescent roll triangle. This ensures the flavor is baked right into the dough.

5. Roll 'Em Up

Place one cooked sausage link at the wide end of the crescent roll and roll it up toward the point.

6. The Final Dip

Take your completed roll and quickly dip the entire thing back into the cinnamon-milk mixture. Place it onto your baking sheet. This creates a beautiful, caramelized crust in the oven.

7. Bake to Golden Perfection

Follow the crescent roll package directions for temperature and timing (usually about 10–13 minutes at 375°F). Serve warm with a side of maple syrup for dipping!
