Step-by-Step: Bunny & Carrot Brownies
We’re combining both designs so you can make a whole tray that looks like spring exploded (in the best way)! If you want to see how each brownie was made separately, see the videos at the bottom of the article.
Step 1: Bake + Cool Your Brownies
Start with your favorite brownie recipe and make it in a round 9” spring form cake pan. You can also use a round 12” spring form cake pan if you want thinner brownies. Also, remember one round pan of brownies makes 8 brownies. Let them cool completely before decorating.
Pro tip: If you pop them in the fridge or freezer for 30 minutes, they’ll cool faster and cut cleaner.
Step 2: Make Bunny Ears and Carrot Stems
Lay out a piece of parchment paper. In a small microwavable bowl, melt your chocolate melts according to package directions.
-
For bunnies, melt white chocolate melts first. Once you’ve created the bunny ear shapes on the parchment paper (step 3), then melt the pink chocolate melts.
-
For carrots, melt green chocolate melts.
Once your chocolate is fully melted and smooth, carefully spoon it into a piping or Ziplock bag. Snip a small corner off the bottom and pipe your bunny ear or carrot stem shapes directly onto parchment paper. Let them sit until completely set.
If you’re making bunny ears, melt the pink chocolate melts next. Transfer the melted pink chocolate into a piping or Ziplock bag, snip a tiny corner, and gently pipe the pink centers inside each white ear. Allow everything to cool and harden.
Pro tips: Add small amounts of coconut oil to your chocolate melts to make the chocolate smoother. Once you’ve added the pink to each bunny ear, gently shake the parchment paper to help the pink chocolate settle and smooth. Place your chocolate designs in the refrigerator to cool faster.

Step 3: Cut Your Shapes
Once the brownies are cool, remove them from the cake pan and cut into 8 triangles (like a pizza). Keep edges clean for that polished look.
Pro tip: You can spray Pam or put butter on your knife to help the brownies from sticking when you cut (especially if they are gooey in the middle like mine were).

Step 4: Tint Your Frosting
If making the carrot brownies, add orange food coloring to the vanilla frosting.
Step 5: Frost the Base
For the bunny (white frosting) and carrot brownies (orange frosting), spoon the frosting into a piping bag with a large smooth round tip (or Ziplock bag with the corner snipped).
Using a zig-zag motion, add frosting to the brownies. You can also use other frosting tips to make fun patterns on the brownies with the frosting.

Step 6: Add the Details
At this point, your chocolate bunny ears and carrot stems should be cool. Add them to the wide part of each brownie.
For the bunnies, add coconut or large sugar sprinkles for textures if you wish. For the carrots, you can also add crushed Oreos or Thin Mints to give it a dirt texture.
And just like that… you have a whole tray of Easter magic!
